Our Local Favorite: Lure Fish House in Ventura

Nestled in the heart of Ventura, Lure Fish House is the kind of restaurant that turns a casual dinner into a memorable evening. With its coastal decor, airy ambiance, and dedication to sustainability, it’s no wonder this place has a loyal following.

We arrived just before the dinner rush and grabbed a booth by the window. Our server was quick to greet us and immediately offered house-made sourdough and herb butter — a small touch, but a delicious one.

We kicked things off with the Charbroiled Oysters, lightly kissed with parmesan and butter. They’re a fan favorite for a reason: smoky, rich, and fresh. The Chowder Sampler followed, allowing us to try both their New England clam and sweet corn versions. Perfectly creamy without being heavy.

For mains, the Wild-Caught Halibut arrived with grilled asparagus and lemon-basil aioli. Cooked flawlessly. Our second dish, the Spicy Tequila Shrimp Pasta, had just the right heat to complement the buttery shrimp.

Cocktails are a must here. The Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita was refreshing and bold, while the classic Old Fashioned was balanced with a citrus twist.

Whether you're celebrating or just looking for a reliable weekday dinner, Lure Fish House offers consistency, quality, and that breezy California vibe. Pro tip: Grab a seat on the patio for lunch or early dinner – perfect for people-watching.
