The Ultimate Kombucha Bar
What is a kombucha bar? For those of you who don’t know – kombucha is a healthy probiotic drink. Kombucha is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks commonly intended as functional beverages for their supposed health benefits. Many people drink Kombucha because it helps prevent a variety of diseases, supports a healthy gut, and improves mental health.
Now for the Ventura County gem: REVEL in Ojai. This is a kombucha bar/brewery and tasting room. “Thought to have originated thousands of years ago, Jun is an effervescent living health tonic known as the champagne of kombuchas.” Revel’s Kombucha Bar is made with raw, local honey, and organic green tea. They have 7 kombucha flavors on tap – and 1 cold brew:
Spa – A refreshing combination of limes, ginger, cucumber and mint.
Shangri La – A beautiful blend of raspberry and fresh mint.
Inner Compass – Passionfruit
Pink Moment – A pink blend of hibiscus ginger and orange zest * which is known as a local favorite
Eclipse – A coconut and chai with activated charcoal (MY FAVORITE)
Kickflip – Ginger blend
Blue Moon – Ojai lavender and summer blueberries
You can purchase a flight of 4 for $6.50.
We bought 2 flights and tried all 7 kombucha flavors plus their cold brew. Our favorite was the Eclipse and Shangri La. We didn’t particularly favor the cold brew but we opted in for it anyways since we wanted to try all their flavors. If you’ve tasted a store-bought bottle of Kombucha, you’ll notice it has a harsh vinegary scent and a sour aftertaste. The Kombucha on tap at Revel Kombucha Bar doesn’t have that harsh taste, with an aroma of jasmine and ginger.
Kombucha not your thing? Try their AMAZING acai bowls (seriously – so good.) Everybody knows the secret to a good acai bowl is the consistency of the acai. Here at Revel, the acai is thick like sherbert with fresh organic toppings!
The Classic acai bowl comes with organic acai and is topped with organic bananas, local seasonal berries, organic coconut, granola, and local raw honey.
If you’re feeling a bit adventurous with your taste buds opt-in for The Awesome Bowl. Organic Acai is topped with organic bananas, local and seasonal berries, organic coconut, cacao cherry granola, organic peanut butter drizzle, and cacao nibs. A small size bowl runs for $6.95 and a large goes for $8.95, making this the perfect snack, or even a perfect meal!
